Leading off today: Put it in the books.
After a review of the game film, South Park senior Adam Nunes now possesses the New York state record for rushing yards in a game courtesy of Thursday's monster effort in a 58-28 victory over Iroquois.
Nunes also scored seven touchdowns, largely on long runs, and finished with 26 carries for 593 yards. That broke the record of 584 yards by Sandy Creek's Joe Benedict in 2016.
"I had no idea what was happening, and someone said to me late in the game after he ripped off multiple long runs, 'He's got to be approaching some kind of record,'" SOuth Park coach Tim Delaney told The Buffalo News. "There were guys on the sideline and someone from Connolly Cup tallying his numbers and I said, 'If he's really close, I'm not going to take him out. I'm going to try.' In the last drive, we gave it to him.
"We wouldn't have normally done that, but with the chances of breaking a state record, you're going to give the kid an attempt to do it. It's not just an Adam thing, which he acknowledges; that's for the offensive line. That's for us as a team and us as a program."

Payment processing dispute disrupts Section 3 soccer schedule
It seemed odd that Cicero-North Syracuse's athletic staff found out of the day of the game that Thursday's home boys soccer match vs. Baldwinsville would have to be postponed because of a lack of officials. For all the problem that administrators in nearly all sports across the state have had in recruiting officials, it is still exceedingly rare for a postponement to take place on such short notice.
According to Syracuse.com, however, the real reason there was no one avalable may have to do with a new payment system that CNS and a number of other schools have adopted.
According to the website, the traditional payment system involved game officials filling out a voucher after a contest, with the payment processed by the school district's finance department.
However, CNS has joined the many schools across the country that now rely on the ArbiterSports payment system, under which officials go online to enter their information to get paid.
Jason Czarny, the executive director of Section 3, said he wasn't aware of other disruptions attributable to unhappiness with the ArbiterSports system, but postponements requested by officials assignors typically do not come with an explanation.
"Certainly I believe it (the payment dispute) is having a larger impact than the one single game last night," Czarny said. "I think what we're experiencing right now is unfortunate. There are ways to move toward a resolution on this."
To that end, Czarny said he held a conference call with several athletic directors on Friday, with the payment dispute one of several topics covered.
