Leading off today: Mount Academy's Brooke Huleatt set NYSPHSAA game and single-season records for most goals in girls soccer by netting all of her team's goals in a 10-0 victory over Rondout Valley on Wednesday.
The senior forward's 10 goals eclipsed the New York State Public High School Athletic Association mark of nine by Queensbury's Brittany LaPlant in 2013.
Huleatt's 10th goal of the day gave her 80 for the season, one more than Chloe DeLyser netted as a junior in 2018. Huleatt has scored six of more goals in a game seven times this season, and she has netted 22 over three straight 10-0 victories since Oct. 8.
The victory boosted the state's fourth-ranked Class B team's record to 14-0.
Iona Prep coach rebukes Conn. high school assistant
A guy I used to work with in my newspaper career approached delicate communications the same way I did: Don't put anything in writing or say something on a company phone that could eventually com back and bite you in the tush.
I mention that after reading yesterday that Joe Spagnolo, head football coach at Iona Prep, lashed out at a Connecticut school's assistant coach for allegedly
texting a Gaels player with messages that could easily be construed as recruiting.
Spagnolo had the receipts when he told the Brunswick School assistant to back off, writing, "We have a better program and would beat you by multiple TDs. Stay in your lane and find kids that need the opportunity. Not kids that already have offers/are being recruited."
Brunswick School is an all-male private school located in Greenwich, Conn.

Section 3 school calls off remainder of season
Jordan-Elbridge has canceled the remainder of its football season,
Syracuse.com reported. Athletic director Daniel Stadtmiller cited multiple injuries, which factored into three consecutive forfeits leading up to the decision.
The Eagles opened the season 0-3 in Class D.
Hannibal will have a bye this weekend. Scheduled Week 8 opponent Sherburne-Earlville can play if it can line up an opponent.
