Cream of Class A again? A matchup of defending Section 9 football champions proved a mismatch on Saturday as Cornwall routed Red Hook, 47-0, by scoring on its first four possessions.
Cornwall played in the NYSPHSAA Class A final last year, losing to Corning East. The defending-champion Trojans, heavily depleted by graduation, opened Saturday with a 29-7 victory against Owego.

New facility for St. A's: The giant hole on the St. Anthony's campus will be a $41 million student center by the end of next year, featuring a 140,000-square-foot field house for the South Huntington school.
It will be a significant upgrade for the 2,400-student school, which has been a powerhouse in a number of sports including football and track and field. The center will include a 200-meter track, weight room, locker rooms and classroom space for several other extracurricular activities such as band and dance.
Extra points: Newburgh star D.J. Romano, among the 2006 team leaders in TDs, rushing yards, receptions and interceptions despite missing four games with injuries, is likely done for the season after injuring the ACL in his left knee Friday during a loss to Minisink Valley. He'll undergo further examinations this week. . . . Canisius senior Justin Young, playing his first varsity football game, made two scoring catches in a victory over Buffalo Riverside.
