Milestone for Curran: With his usual minimal fanfare, Archbishop Molloy boys basketball coach Jack Curran, 77, racked up career victory No. 900 in boys basketball last night with a 93-53 home triumph against Monsignor Scanlan.
The only acknowledegment of the milestone was a brief public-address announcement after the game.
"It makes the game bigger than it is, but maybe that was good because we had a decent crowd and people were into it," Curran told FiveBoroSports.com. "It’s good for the kids when they get a big crowd. I know they like that. Too much has been made of me over the last couple of years. I’m here so long. I’d like the kids to get the attention. I get enough attention.”
Curran, who's served at Molloy for more than 50 years, is the winningest coach in state history. (Related link: All-time list.)

NYSPHSAA wrestling committee officials said the vote was unanimous, citing the average travel distance of the respective sections.

The Tigers had won 89 straight games, the third-best run in U.S. history, en route to five straight state championships. Only Concord (Calif.) De La Salle (151) and Charlotte (N.C.) Independence (109) won more consecutive games than the Batesville school.
With South Panola's loss, Maryville, Tenn., inherited the longest active streak at 74 games, but Hillsboro snapped
