Leading off today: Johnson City distance star Lauren Mullins broke the course record en route to a nominating victory this morning at the Elmira Invitational at Newtown Battlefield.
Mullins finished in 19:29.9, far ahead of Windsor's Maddy Seitz (20:51.7). Owego senior Jessica Scordino and Kristy Scordino were third and fourth, respectively, to lead the team to a victory with 65 points.
Corning's Jarred Cornfield paced the boys field in 17:30.2, but Windor's Mike Buchanon and David Bates were next across the line to help the Black Knights to first place with 29 points.
Streaking: What is probably the most amazing active streak in the state remains in tact as Buffalo City Honors began its 24th season of perfect league play in girls volleyball.
By beating Grover Cleveland 25-5, 25-16, 25-14 on Friday, the Centaurs extended their streak of sets won in the Buffalo City League to 778. They've never lost a set or match in league action.

The PSAL chaos got a little worse this week as the girls game between Susan Wagner and McKee/Staten Island Tech and Susan Wagner scheduled for Fr. Capodanno Field in Midland Beach had to be postponed. It seems a St. Peter's-Monsignor Farrell JV contest was already in progress, and the coaches for that game possessed a valid site permit, The Advance reported.
