Chittenango upset Westhill 61-45 in boys basketball Sunday.
Westhill is ranked second in the state in Class B.
Dylan Voutsinas added 18 points as Chittenango avenged a one-point loss earlier this season and a defeat in last season's Section 3 championship game.
"Winning this game is nice and all," Falkenburg said. "But what it really comes down to is winning in sectionals. That's the goal we have."
Westhill lost senior Sean Dadey to a shoulder injury early and fell behind by 10 points in the first quarter.
Jefferson rebounds: Coming off a six-point loss Saturday to Brooklyn rival Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson rebounded with a 78-55 rout of Cardozo at the Books4Ball MLK Jr. Basketball Showcase.
Jefferson was ranked eighth and Cardozo 12th in Class AA last week by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
Guard Kareem Welch led the way with 26 points and freshman JaQuan Carlos chipped in with 19 points.
Girls basketball: Saniaa Wilson produced 25 points and 17 rebounds for Bishop Kearney in a 63-58 victory over Binghamton Catholic in overtime.
Kearney is ranked 14th in Class AA and Seton Catholic sixth in Class A.
Allure Simmons made a layup with :02 remaining in regulation to force overtime. In OT, she had three steals and six points for the Kings.
Coaching awards: New York has three representatives on the list of 23 high school coaches who have been selected as 2017 National Coaches of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations Coaches Association.
The award recipients from New York are Voorheesville boys golf coach Thomas Gladd, Fort Plain baseball coach Craig Phillips and Smithtown East field hockey coach Ann Naughton.
