Monday, Sept. 10, 2018: Another two-goal game from DeLola carries Baldwinsville

   Leading off today: Kelsey DeLola posted her second two-goal game of the weekend Sunday as Baldwinsville defeated Niskayuna 3-0 in a girls soccer game.

   The contest at Herkimer County Community College was part of the three-day NYSSCOGS New York State High School Girls Soccer Hall of Fame Tournament in Central New York.

   DeLola also assisted on the Bees' third goal against Niskayuna as the team improved to 3-1 this season. On Saturday, she scored twice as Baldwinsville downer Shaker 5-2.

   Central Valley Academy and Clinton were other Section 3 teams that put up a two-win weekend.






   CVA defeated Lancas- ter St. Mary's 1-0 on Saturday and Mechanic- ville 1-0 on Sunday. Reilly Rich scored both the goals and Cierra Doolen booked a pair of shutouts as CVA improved to 4-0.

   Clinton's wins were by 2-0 over Waverly on Saturday and 3-0 over Little Falls on Sunday. Skyler Jones and Sarah Owens each had two-goal games in boosting Clinton's record to 4-0.

   St. Anthony's had one of the more impressive weekends at the third annual event, defeating Williamsville North 4-2 and Shenendehowa 5-0. Rochester's Our Lady of Mercy also went 2-0 for the weekend.

   Rankings progress: The season's first NYSSWA boys soccer rankings are out, with Clarence (Class AA), Queensbury (A), Briarcliff (B), Lansing (C) and Chazy (D) holding down the No. 1 positions amongst New York State Public High School Athletic Association teams.

   We'll have our first set of girls cross country ratings posted early Monday evening.

   Iowa lands NYC point guard: Cardinal Hayes senior point guard Joe Toussaint committed to the University of Iowa during his campus visit this weekend.

   Toussaint was third-team all-state in Class AA basketball after averaging 15 points a game as a junior and developing a reputation for hard-nosed defense.

   He reportedly had also been considering Dayton, UNLV and Wichita State.

   More boys basketball: Former assistant coach David Leon will take over the Abraham Lincoln program in Brooklyn following the departure of Dwayne "Tiny" Morton to become coach and AD at Nazareth.

   Kevin Hamilton Jr. is the new head coach at Eagle Academy III in the PSAL.
