NOTES:
-- Pittsford makes a huge leap from No. 8 in the previous rankings to the
second spot in Division I. Call it a case of being in the right place at the
right time as a tie with Division II power Webster Schroeder constituted a
positive delevlopment compared to numerous other top contenders.
-- Orchard Park may have had the roughest week, losing to both Schroeder and
Niagara-Wheatfield, who'll each be in contention for Division II titles by
the end of the season. Keep in mind Orchard Park owns a November victory vs.
No. 1 Williamsville North, which won the rematch on Dec. 15.
-- Schroeder moves to the top in Division II, but it's impossible to discount
the possibility of Pelham and Skaneateles moving to the top of the pack in the
coming weeks. Schroeder vs. Batavia/Notre Dame on Jan. 20 will go a long way
toward settling the battle for Section 5 D-II superiority.
-- With the first of two games with Suffern on the schedule for Jan. 12, Rye's
situation may get worse before it gets better. However, the team's traditionally
tough schedule should bode well when it comes to pressping for the postseason.
