The Wildcats beat Shenendehowa in the 2008 Division I quarterfinals in four overtimes and lost the final that same year to Massena in triple OT; a year ago, West Genny needed "only" one OT to eliminate Suffern in the semifinals and won the title the next afternoon.

Spartans goalie Parker Gahagen gave up his first goal in four playoff games this winter but finished with 26 saves as the team advanced to next weekend's semifinals in Utica.

Bowling: Tyler Mochrie and Matt Olson averaged 198.5 and 196.2, respectively, to lead Colonie to the boys team championship in the state tournament at AMF Strike-N-Spare Lanes in Syracuse.
Colonie totaled 5,944 for a six-game block to top Vernon-Verona-Sherrill (5,800) and Waverly (5,799). Jared Joseph of Waverly had the top score during team competition, averaging 226.5 with the held of a 238-236-257 block in the second half of his set.
Colonie's girls aslo earned a team title, rolling up 5,576 pins to easily outdistance Union-Endicott (5,350). Kalynn Carl led the way for the winners, averaging 200.2 for six games to finish second overall to Erica Schneider (202.7) of Levittown Division.
In Sunday's sections competition, Jeremy Milito of Sachem East and Sabrina Williams of Camden posted the top series of 1,377 and 1,230, respectively. The Section 11 boys and Section 2 girls finished first.
