Leading off today: The Week 4 football schedule was not kind to ranked teams on Friday as 18 of them suffered losses. While most of the setbacks were a case of losing to other ranked squads, the NYSSWA's Steve Grandin points out six fell to unranked opponents.
Among them was one top-ranked team as Delhi knocked off Class D kingpin Tioga, 41-34. Tioga found itself in a perpetual game of catch-up once Delhi's Ian Johnson (19 carries, 159 yards) rambled 64 yards for a touchdown on the game's third play.
The slugfest wrapped up on an Adam Cook 3-yard scoring run up the middle with 4:26 to go.

Iona Prep outlasts St. Anthony's
There's seldom a dull moment near the top of the CHSFL, the league housing many of the downstate non-public schools, and Friday saw another memorable battle as
Iona Prep edged St. Anthony's, 48-40.
Crew Davis scored four touchdowns, rushed for 201 yards on 17 carries, and caught three passes for 89 more in the second-ranked Gaels' final tune-up for next week's game against Class AA No. 1 Cardinal Hayes.
Davis' heroics offset the work of Friars quarterback Gary Merrill, who threw for 235 yards and three TDs and ran for 190 yards and three touchdowns.
