Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014: Coleman boys beat Ellenville in five OTs

Leading off today: Dino Celadon scored six of his 33 points in the fifth overtime Monday to help John A. Coleman Catholic to a 94-84 boys basketball victory over Ellenville.

Micah Smalls added 27 points as Coleman advanced to the Mid-Hudson Athletic League championship game. Danny Santiago finished with 19 points to lead Ellenville, while Will Malloy added 15.

The game was tied at 79 after four overtimes.

Coleman and Saugerties will play Thursday for the league championship.

Cast your ballot soon: Voting has started and will continue through 8 p.m. Friday in the inaugural Battle of the Fans contest being conducted by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

Norwich, Pleasantville and Skaneateles are the finalists in the competition, launched this winter to encourage sportsmanship and to get students more involved in supporting their high school teams.

Schools entered by posting a clip of between 90 seconds and three minutes to YouTube last month demonstrating enthusiasm, togetherness and sportsmanship in the cheering sections. After initial judging by the NYSPHSAA, staffers visited the finalists at a home contest.

To vote, fans need to "like" NYSPHSAA on Facebook and then cast their votes.

The winning school will be announced Friday morning and recognized March 15 in Glens Falls during the state basketball final fours.

Join the 'Crowd': As some of you may know, my gig here with the New York State Sportswriters Association isn't what pays the bills at the humble Moriello abode. For the past six-plus years I've been working for FOXSports.com, most recently as a homepage editor for the website.

Today, my two duties intersect as I get to bring you an offer most likely of greater interest to readers in the New York City area.

The producers of "Crowd Goes Wild," the afternoon sports talk show airing weekdays on FOX Sports 1, have asked me to pass along an offer for free tickets to be a part of the live studio audience from 4-6 p.m..

Tickets have to be ordered in advance by going to this website and clicking on the appropriate date you'd like to
