with a teenage girl, pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors in court Monday,
The Buffalo News reported.
Hasan pleaded guilty to aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child before Amherst Town Justice Geoffrey K. Klein, the paper reported. He had also been charged with two misdemeanor counts of forcible touching.
"We thought that this would be the best choice, not putting my daughter through a trial,” the mother of the girl, now an 18-year-old college student, told the paper. "Even though it’s with her every day, we didn’t want to rehash it and give him the pleasure of seeing her in court."
Sentencing has been set for Dec. 16. Each count of a Class A misdemeanor can lead to a sentence ranging from no jail time to a one-year sentence. Hasan was fired from his coaching job after his arrest.
"He was a great coach," the mother said. "I can’t take that away from him, but he had a dark side. He had some serious issues."
