Leading off today: Dundee sophomore Kyle Spinks may have tied a national record yesterday by
hitting four triples during a 20-13 baseball victory against Harley Allendale-Columbia.
Spinks finished 5-for-6, scored three times and drove in nine runs for the Scotsmen. In addition, he earned the win in relief on the mound.
The National Federation record book lists four instances of players hitting four triples in a game, all between 1956 and 2001. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association lists three instances of three three-baggers in a game.
Big round number alert: Corning East scored five third-quarter goals to pull away for a 14-8 boys lacrosse victory against Chenango Forks the 700th triumph in the program's history.
The win was No. 497 for coach Bob Streeten.
Mitch Keefer scored five goals, assisted on two and went 15-for-23 on faceoffs. Matt Tobia scored four goals and Cody Lucas added a hat trick with three assists.

Solvay finally falls: Westhill handed Solvay its first boys track and field loss in seven years and 59 meets with a 72-69 victory.
Tom Welch cleared 12 feet in the pole vault, the last event of the meet, gave the Warriors the clinching points in a tri-meet at Solvay on Tuesday. Westhill (8-0) also defeated Skaneateles (7-1), 71½-69½, en route to wrapping up the league championship.
Softball shorts: Buffalo McKinley’s Kara Edwards pitched a perfect game her third no-hitter in a row to beat South Park in the first game of a doubleheader.
On Monday, junior Jessie Winans hit her 10th home run of the season as Afton downed Hancock, 11-1. Winans has been selected Daily Star Player of the Year three straight years.
