Kicking off: Clarkstown North held tough down the stretch to earn a 14-6 football victory yesterday against North Rockland, beating the Red Raiders for the first tim since 1979.
"It's history now," Rams senior Christian Bouquet told The Journal News after his 25-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter stood up. "I can always say I beat North Rockland my senior year."
A bad snap on a Rams punt attempt gave North Rockland a final opportunity, and the Red Raiders converted two third downs before Tareek Turner and Mike Paolino successfully defended passes to shut down the threat.
First down: Weather got the best of Long Island, where more than 50 games were scheduled ahead of the Yom Kippur observance and many ended up being suspended or not played at all according to Newsday.

North Babylon halfback Preshod McCoy scored three TDs in the contest between 2009 Suffolk County divisional champions.
Meanwhile, Class B No. 14 Bayport-Blue Point and Mount Sinai were scoreless when they were stopped with 9:03 to go in the first half. They'll resume today at 2:30 p.m.
Second down: Shenendehowa, ranked 12th in Class AA, squeezed past Ballston Spa 7-0 as Tony Fusco's gallop to the end zone in the first quarter held up.
The teams combined for 146 points en route to 2-0 starts to the new season. Shen held the Scotties to 139 yards of total offense, and Ballston Spa's best opportunity came on a 13-play drive that stalled at the Plainsmen's 19 midway through the fourth quarter.
"It isn't what you score, it's what they score," Shen coach Brent Steuerwald told The Times Union.
Third down: Williamsville South, ranked ninth in Class A, cruised past No. 13 Amherst 45-8. Buddy Ammerman scored three touchdowns and Joe Licata (20-for-27, 272 yards) threw for three for the Billies.
