Digging inside the schedules: General Brown has outscored opponents by 539-126, which includes that ugly 85-0 win over Alex Bay in Week 3. Three other wins have come by a combined seven points, including the 19-14 triumph against Fredonia in the state semis. It's worth noting that a 19-18 win at Westmoreland in Week 2 became less worrisome once the Lions won the rematch 58-8 in sectionals.

Bronxville opened with four shutouts by a combined 204-0, and the Broncos haven't slowed down much since. They outscored their foes, including state Class D finalist Tuckahoe, 489-58 for the year.

About General Brown: The Lions, making their fifth tournament appearance since 2003, are the first Frontier League team to reach the state title game.

Throwing the ball was not a priority the first month of the season, but Nick Frears is 76-for-119 for 1,202 yards and an 18-to-5 ratio of TDs to interceptions. He was just 4-for-10 for 62 yards last week in the win over Fredonia after a 40-for-59 spree for 618 yards over the previous four games.

The running game has cranked out 3,019 yards this fall, led by Kyle Scordo (135 carries, 813 yards, 9 TDs), Nick

Klusacek (101-774-13) and Mark Allen (102-577-13). Devin Tyler (34 catches, 622 yards, 11 TDs) is the leading receiver.

There are only 11 seniors on the roster.

About Bronxville: Junior running back Christian Conway has gaudy numbers (129 carries, 1,509 yards, 23 rushing TDs), and Dylan Mitchell (64-852-12) is also having a big season.    Outstanding linebacker Kieran Borcich is back after a long absence due to injury. That's significant

because Bronxville surrendered 324 passing yards and two TDs to Saranac Lake last week in the 49-14 victory.

Ryan Hackett has a team-high six interceptions. Linebacker Stephen Shoemaker and Jackson Conway have 11 and 9 sacks, respectively.

Since Edgemont's three-year run ended in 2000, the west side of the bracket has won seven of nine state Class C championships, but Bronxville hasn't had anything closer than a two-TD win so far.

Past championships: This is General Brown's first final. Bronxville is also seeking its first title.

Making a pick: General Brown won a tough battle over Fredonia. 19-14, but was outgained 237-197. Fredonia turned the ball over three times on interceptions and three more on fumbles. I can't imagine Bronxville making those sorts of mistakes, if for no other reason than throwing the ball is not in the Broncos' DNA.

The Bronxville team we saw at the Dome a year ago showed up battered and bruised and ran into a superior Southwestern team. There are no such issues this year.

The pick is Bronxville 35, General Brown 13.
